Overview
We’re looking for an ambitious Business Development Executive to launch and grow Our Braintree.
Reporting to a three-person board, you’ll build our membership base through monthly and annual subscriptions while driving resident engagement.
Location: Home based with regular meetings across Braintree
Hours: 35 per week, mainly office hours with occasional evenings/weekends
Part-time: We’ll consider splitting the role between two people
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
• Acquire businesses across Braintree District on subscription packages
• Visit businesses face to face across retail, manufacturing, hospitality, trades, professional services and other sectors
• Network actively and follow up professionally via LinkedIn, email and phone
• Set up and run Our Braintree networking events
• Onboard businesses onto the platform and manage the registration portal
• Help develop the model for rollout to other Essex towns and beyond
Community Engagement
• Create engaging content for TikTok, Instagram, X and Facebook
• Build relationships with local media (print, radio, digital)
• Connect with community groups, charities and clubs
• Maintain a live calendar of family-friendly local events
• Attend events like Braintree Carnival
• Explore pop-up opportunities in the town centre
• Grow newsletter sign-ups (GDPR compliant)
Stakeholder Relations
• Build rapport with councillors, MPs and local dignitaries
• Represent Our Braintree professionally across the district
Essential Requirements
• Minimum one year business development or sales experience
• Self-starter who works independently
• Excellent networking and relationship skills
• Strong written and spoken English
• Professional telephone manner
• Good IT skills and social media confidence
• Strong work ethic and professional appearance
• Genuine interest in supporting the Braintree community
• Full driving licence and own car
